ReplacingAfter the first three steps in the CDI process, you probably feel as if you are making progress. Perhaps you have discovered and cast down some things you may have been thinking about yourself or others that were not right, or maybe something you were doing that was not according to the Word of God, and these things have now been cast down, repented of, and removed. Though these are bold and noble steps, stopping now will only ensure eventual defeat. This is where most Christians get stagnated in their Christian life. They have completed all the don'ts but know nothing about the do's. Step 4, replacing, will ensure that you will continue to grow as a Christian and continue to change as you receive God's promises. Before we explore this area, you must decide in your mind that living daily as a Christian is the type of lifestyle you want beginning today, and for the remainder of your life. Casting negative thoughts, ideas, and suggestions out of your mind is one thing, but you can't operate your life on emptiness, vacancy, or in a rejection state. Someday you are going to have to occupy that space with something that is positive and according to the will of God to win. As a child of God, you must be ready to replace old thoughts, ideas, and suggestions with God's Word. Let's review. Once the thought or idea is received, it is analyzed. When that thought is analyzed and found not to meet the standards in the Word of God, it is then rejected, and that empty place must be filled with the Word of God. Learn now to remember to replace each negative thought, idea, or suggestion with the Word of God that you used to analyze it. By doing so, you allow those Scriptures to become the new standard in your lifestyle in that area for the rest of your life. That becomes your confession of faith. You are confessing God's promises that will come to pass for you in that area. In Psalm 119:89, the Bible states: "Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." Learn to settle your matters with the Word of God, because the Word of God is already settled! Remembering to replace negative thoughts with the promises of God ensures that you will always keep yourself growing in the Word, settled in the things of God and not the whims of the world's ideas. |
